In brief
Hair transplant surgery moves hair follicles from the back of the scalp to areas where the hair is thinning. The results take months to show, so most of the outcome unfolds after you have returned home.

How matters are arranged in Korea
- Hair transplant falls outside Korean national health insurance, and each clinic sets its own price, per graft or per session.
- Ask how many grafts are planned, and who will perform the extraction and the implantation.
Official fees in Seoul
The non-covered fees that hospitals and clinics in Seoul report to the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. Ask for a written quotation all the same: it is the fee you will actually be charged.

Planning your stay
- Surgery usually takes a single day; arrange a check before you fly.
- Transplanted hair commonly sheds before it regrows over the months that follow.
The risks, plainly stated
- Infection, scarring and poor graft survival.
- An unnatural hairline, where planning is poor.
Every procedure carries risk. Only the treating doctor, having examined you, can say whether a treatment is suitable.
Questions to put to the clinic
To take with you
- Who will perform each step of the procedure?
- How many grafts, and what result is realistic in my case?
- How will follow-up be arranged once I am home?
For a few words of Korean at the reception desk, Day1Korean has short conversations to listen to and repeat.
Who ought to treat you
There is no separate speciality for hair transplantation. Ask about the doctor’s speciality, and how many such procedures they perform.
Before you book, use our safety checklist to confirm the clinic’s government registration and the doctor’s licence.
