About Gangnam

Gangnam-gu, south of the Han River, holds more hospitals and clinics than any other district of Seoul. Sinsa, Apgujeong, Cheongdam and the streets around Gangnam Station are lined with dermatology, plastic surgery and dental clinics, many of them in multi-storey medical buildings.

Such density brings choice, but also pressure: high-volume clinics, coordinators paid to win visitors over, and insistent promotions. Use the safety checks on this site before you commit to any clinic.

Practical tips

  1. 1

Many clinics sit on the upper floors of medical buildings; the directory in the lobby lists every clinic and its departments.

  2. 2

Subway Line 3 (Sinsa, Apgujeong) and the Suin–Bundang Line (Apgujeong Rodeo) serve the main clinic streets.

  3. 3

Stay close to your clinic if you are having surgery; short journeys matter during recovery.
